Re: Kursk Panther
Oh yes, you can be pleased
I wonder if anyone ever has made such plates made from sheet steel and left to rust in the open....?

Re: Kursk Panther
This build has been sitting unfinished for way too long so I thought I would give it some attention.
I was never happy with the rust effects so the first thing on my list was to do something about that.
I got to work with oils, giving the hull more of a dirty finish. I paid particular attention to making the paintwork look grimy before taking care to add highlights to certain panels, joins, and edges. Mostly I used artistic license for the colours and placement. Finally, I added dust on the hull and turret with some generous "runoff" where appropriate. I've also decided to do a different base. I wasn't happy with what I had done the first time around so I will take another shot at making something else.
Cheers,
Vincent

Re: Kursk Panther
Hi Vincent
Good to see this one back at the bench
Looks like the improvements are going well.
Rust is certainly an underestimated colour scheme and not the easiest to get looking right too.
The change in weathering gives the D an aged look and does look good.
How do you intent to change the base?
Perhaps more overgrown?
Kursk in '44/'45?
Looks like fun
Regards
Steve H

I had completely forgotten about this one Vincent
The reworked burned parts look amazing, it's obvious how much you've refined your skills in the last few years

Re: Kursk Panther
Thanks Steve. I was going for something that has been sitting outside for a while and the base should reflect that I reckon.Steve Hutchinson wrote: ↑08 Sep 2022, 07:33 Hi Vincent

Re: Kursk Panther
Thanks, Philipp. The Panther has been one of those builds that doesn't quite go the way you think it will when you start. I feel I've wrangled it into submission now. As long as the base works out of coursePhilipp Gross wrote: ↑09 Sep 2022, 22:36 I had completely forgotten about this one Vincent

A fantastic model Vincent, your skill in replicating realisic rust is outstanding!
