Takom SMK
Well SMK my ass!
Built mostly OOB. I didn't like the fender stowage wooden boxes and tools so I added boxes from the spares. Easy build. I worked on and off for about 5 weeks in between other projects. Wads of blue tack mask the wheel mounts.
I always have better luck with gluing tracks to wheels at the start. When I leave rigid plastic tracks off and try to install last, I always run into fit issues because of paint layer build up.

Re: Takom SMK
!
Will this 55 ton monstrosity be marked for the Winter War or will it be...err.. the very same vehicle of a total of one in a "test state"?
...though I highly doubt that it was marked at all... it's pretty distinct as a one-of-its-kind anyway... so..err... "deployed with dirt or clean?" would be more appropriate a question .
(Looks awesome by the way!)
Best regards

Re: Takom SMK
Raoul,
My plan is to paint a three tone camo as shown in the instructions. Or solid green. I haven't decided yet.
It will be dusty with a little wear but not worn out.

Re: Takom SMK
Sounds great... I also highly doubt that it was in action long enough to wear out in any way shape or form .

I like the look of this kit Bryan. Its a bit wacky though. You sure find some obscure vehicles don't you.

Re: Takom SMK
You just gotta love a totally anachronistic land battleship with a modern late 30s design
I wanted to build this one ever since it came out. How does it compare with Trumpeter's KV kits?

Re: Takom SMK
It certainly is an odd one. Much more streamlined than a T-35.
The kit was an easy build but I took my time as trimming and cleaning up the tracks, wheels and wheel arms really sucked the fun out. The rest could be built in a day. The detail is about the same as a Trumpeter KV kit just with less flash and ejector pin marks. Only the main turret commander's hatch opens all others are molded closed which is fine as there is no interior. The parts have good fit. It includes one piece of PE for the engine deck screen, clear lens, and wire for the tow cables.

Re: Takom SMK
Paint applied to the SMK. All paints are AK real Color. The distressed mottled paint effect was created with the hairspray technique. I used Montex masks for the markings.
