Re: M3 Lee Late - MinArt
Shawn - This is why I chose the MiniArt kit vs the Takom. OOB, the MiniArt kit needs no extras. The right combination of plastic and PE only where needed. Oddly, it did not include a cable. The tracks were a tedious chore to assemble (I could only manage about 25 links a night)but are workable and seem pretty robust.
Justin - Thanks. I can't wait to start painting.
It really is a great kit.

Re: M3 Lee Late - MinArt
Thanks Philipp. Now there are just too many paint options to choose from... OD or OD.

I say you go with OD.
The black and white looks great. Something I have not tried yet.

Re: M3 Lee Late - MinArt
A bit of progress on the Lee.
First the track grousers. There are no correct kit or aftermarket grousers for the T41 track. Using a 3D file for the T51 grouser from Panzer Concepts as a scale guide and reference photos from the internet for a T41 grouser I re-created my own 3D CAD file. The parts were printed on a Photon 3D printer by AK Armor.
The lime green resin makes it difficult to see details but these things are tiny.
The Lee has been painted with AK Real Color OD and Faded OD. The HS technique was used for the patchy white wash based on ref photos. The turret markings are hand painted. The kit includes markings for "203". I started my build before I found photos of 203. There are a number of minor differences so this became 201.

Looks reeeeeeeeeeally good Bryan!
I used to hate those weirdo tanks with hull mounted guns and all that... I've come to love by now, they look so beautifully impractical and ugly in a Great-War-way .
Best regards

The M3 white wash came out great Bryan.
I don't know what to say about the track grousers. I wish I have technical knowledge needed to do something like this. The possibilities are endless to say the least.

Thanks guys! I got a bit of weathering accomplished over the weekend. Next I need to focus on the figure.

Re: M3 Lee Late - MinArt
That is one mighty fine looking tank already
I didn't know there were different grouser types... A while ago I ordered several sets from Shapeways because there's absolutely nothing in resin or styrene available. One day I'll do this monstrosity with them
Philipp
