Question:
The T-62 has 97 track links each side, this kit takes 99 to give the required sag.
Are the 2 extra links a result of the out of scale length of the hull (too long) or am I missing something?

I'd say go with what looks right - I've had plenty of tanks where the "correct" number of links didn't add up.
Making the tracks workable is an interesting approach....I've tried it once with a King Tiger but couldn't get the holes straight

That was my intention anyway Philipp, we all know this kit has plenty of errors so I guessed the inaccurate length may have caused the problem.
The trick with the tracks is not to drill through the entire width of the link, just a short way into the inside and outside edges and use 2 short lengths of wire as the pins.
I'll post a picture to show what I mean.

Thanks guys, it's more out of necessity and only about 20 links each side so not really that much dedication.
I've seen various ways of dealing with tracks to make it easier to paint them but I wasn't really convinced by them, I know they're tried and tested methods but they don't really suit my way of working so I tried this, I quite like it actually but it's the first time I've built individual track links so may gravitate away from it later on if I come up against unforeseen problems.
Build and learn, mistakes are worth making if I learn from them.

Had a go at the auxiliary fuel cells today, removed moulded detail, replaced detail with styrene triangle section and added a few dents, quite pleased with those as I managed to replicate the flattening around them that comes with that type of damage. All ready for the PE cradles now.

Spent a couple of days repurposing a heavy duty cardboard box into something more useful.
