OT-130 T-26 Flamethrower Tank

Post by Bryan Krueger »

HI all. Long time no post. I'm not able to be on here as much as I would like. There are some awesome builds going on and I need to get back more often.

I've been working on a lot of sci-fi lately but armor has not been forgotten. This is the Hobby-Boss OT-130 T-26 Flamethrower Tank. I've liked the looks of the T-26 for a long tame and could not decide between this or a gun tank. Well, this was on sale at an online shop and won out.

I've read about how tricky the HB T-26 suspension and tracks are and the reviews are not wrong. What a total PITA. I set this thing aside many times over several months as I would get so frustrated. Kit is mostly OOB with the exception of some fine welds, thinning out the exhaust and horn, and adding small latch for the hatch. Figure is Alpine and really shows how small these tanks were.

Well done! Must be quite pleasing to build a T-26 with all the bolt heads already in place

If only we all could be satisfied building Tamyia kits out frustration would be so much less. But we cant for some reason.

All the effort you put into this was worth it. It looks great.

Almost finished. I broke a small detail part off at some point :x and need to fix it up before I take the rest of the final photos.

Great build Bryan, mine is a pile of pieces at the edge of the bench, pleased someone pushed on with their build. Love the greasy fuel stain on the bow plates from the flame thrower.

The kit defiantly has a few things against it but has some nice details. Give it another shot.

Thanks on the fuel stains. I had to take some artistic liberties. I tried to find reference images of ANY flame tank with any unique stains on the bow section. Nothing. I think the propellant projects the fuel out far enough that it doesn't accumulate on the armor. Which makes sense, you don't want to be driving around with the front half of your vehicle on fire.
