Thanks Bryan, that might be a good option. :) I was concentrating on the pattern and hadn't considered my method of applying it yet but hand painting could well be the way to go.

Vincent Power wrote: 16 May 2023, 02:34 Your picture is very helpful Philipp, as most drawings show razor-sharp lines painted on the bodywork but looking closely at the application on the truck it's obvious the lines are anything but. I'll try to incorporate that look when I paint the Cruiser. Now I just have to sort out the stripes somehow.
I'm glad it was useful to you :) We modellers always tend to recreate such things with mathematical precision when in real life most things were done by overworked maintenance personell that couldn't care less about minor imperfections

Just look at this, I'm sure such a finish would give any model show judge a heart attack

Besides, hand painting is probably a lot easier than masking everything :D

Another great pic Philipp, thanks again :) Look at how dirty that Spitfire is and notice how those guys are just painting over the top of all of that. There would definitely be mumbling about that finish.

After much head scratching I forged ahead with the Caunter scheme. It may not be 100% accurate but I'm happy with it. :)
I've also moved ahead with the weathering process. I've used oils exclusively so far and currently, there are just a few small pieces to be finished. The exhausts and machine gun are still in primer, the rubber wheels need painting plus it needs an aerial and I must add some stowage in the rear behind the flimsy cans. I will also repaint those fuel cans as I blindly followed Broncos' camo instructions and they look way too uniform to me.
Anyway, this is where I'm up to.

I like the way the oil paint portrays the dust and dirt across the top of the hull. :)
