Quite by accident I came across this highly interesting (for me at least, for you too I hope) collection of late war photos showing the advance of the 6th Armored Division into Frankfurt am Main in March 1945:

Of course, with Frankfurt being my hometown and all it's quite fascinating to see how things went on back in the day. The retreating Wehrmacht had blown up all bridges across the river except for one which was too damaged for tanks but still good for infantry. After a short but bloody battle the northern half of the city was captured from there. The remains of that battle can be seen there as well. Oh, and there was an ex-French railway gun too.
And if you really don't care about any of this you can still use them for modelling reference

Fascinating.
I`m sure we`ve all spent far too many hours looking at photos similar to these, the great thing is these are all new to me.
Thanks for the share, ive saved those great Sherman refs.
