One of the series inspired by SF3D was Special Armored Battalion Dorvack, an anime series that aired from 1983-84. The basic premise is aliens invade Earth and the Earth Defense Forces must fight for humanity’s survival. The EDF use transforming robots and powered armored suits to fight back the alien invaders. Gunze Sangyo released a line of model kits in 1/24, 1/72 and 1/100 scales. One of the things Gunze did to encourage sales was to publish photo stores of custom designs by Makoto Kobayashi.
This build of the 1/24 scale PA-58N is an amalgamation of several of Kobayashi’s designs.
The basic kit was modified to replace the kit joints with ball joints where applicable to improve the pose. It is detailed with Wave Option parts, styrene, putty, and a few bits from the spares.

Re: 1/24 Dorvack PA-58N Custom
As usual I've never heard of the series or anything else you mentioned, but I like the design. Very 70s-80s....all it needs are some VHS image distortions

Re: 1/24 Dorvack PA-58N Custom
Thanks.
I'm at a loss what to paint it right now, so this will sit while I work on other builds.

Re: 1/24 Dorvack PA-58N Custom
Phillipp,
For reference this is what the basic kit looks like. Lots of seam lines, poor alignment, poor fit and limited mobility.
And these custom fan designs are what my build it based on .
There is a whole line of these kits. The anime series was kinda dull so it never took off. The kits sat on shelves and the line was cancelled.

Re: 1/24 Dorvack PA-58N Custom
Thanks for the history lesson Bryan That's some cool stuff, but I guess it had some heavy competition from Gundam and the like when it came out.
How about painting it in the garish colours from the catalogue, but heavily weathered? Would make a for a nice contrast
