How do you display yours?

Completed models that is :D

Gradually getting the new house organised and have made a start on my study room. I'm looking for ideas on how to showcase my completed builds and looking for something a little different to the norm of just sitting them on a shelf. I have an idea that's been floating in my head for a while but wanted to see what everyone else did for some etra inspiration.... ;)

Not an original way, I just have a kind of display cabinet.

My kids are all 11 and under and have a lot of friends with pokey fingers around, so my models live in sealed boxes in the garage!

I'm so very boring... :?

Just a standard issue "Billy" shelf in Panzer Grey with glass doors for miminal dust protection. It's all about storage really, no need for any presentation :?

Even if I had a cabinet, most of my dios would be too large to fit. Like the others, my scenes get sealed into a custom box and stacked together under the stairs.

Hi
With mine there are a select few in glass cabinets in the house. plus the PT Boat on a cabinet in the bedroom.
The rest are in my work shed. I've shelves along the back wall & then clear Perspex infront to keep most of the dust off.
Reminds me I need to add some more shelves soon.

Two glass cabinets from Ikea hold all my builds at the moment. :) Of course, if I have to find room for everything in the stash I'll need a warehouse

Thanks for the responses chaps :D

Managed to make a start tonight and put my idea into action. I started by purchasing a 1800mm x 600mm melanine shelf from the local DIY store. After using a stud finder, the board was ecurely screwed to the wall and white caps hide the screw heads....

Image

I then added a piece of 20mm x 20mm x 200mm dressed wood using white headed cabinet screws to secure it to the board. The wood will eventually be paintred white to match the background....

Image

I found a local company which produces acrylic display cubes and bought a single 200mm cube to try out my idea. A small hole is carefully drilled out along the top edge which will allow a screw to be inserted to hold it securely in place...

Image

The model is placed inside the cube which is then mounted over the wood strip. A small screw is then used to keep it in place as described above...

Image

And the view from further back (inc the fold down steps which lead to the roof space where I can store my stash out of SWMBO's way :D ) ....

Image

I'll continue with this project in the New Year when the acrylic company re-open and I can decide on some custom sizes to suit the models I have to display. I should be able to get a minimum 10 - 12 models on this one board - more if I halve the height of the cube to 100mm.

Comments welcomed :)

That Gary is genius!! Very very impressed :)

Should stop the all invasive dust too!

I would certainly look at some shallower in height, it just looks a little too empty.......
