2021 Group Build Part 2: Prototypes
About time I made an official announcement....on July 1st we start the new "Prototypes" campaign.
So, what's a prototype? Ideally, something that is unique and suitably different from series production, if series production ever happened. A limited production run (let's say 10 vehicles or less) would also be fine. But it's really not that important, the main thing is having fun
This GB is open to pretty much anything available in model kit form, so don't hesitate with the boats, planes and other stuff you didn't dare to start until now
Feel free to post your questions or present your projects
Philipp

Re: 2021 Group Build Part 2: Prototypes
After a review of my ScaleMates account I seem to have the following ""prototypes"" in my packed away stash.
Versuchsflakwagen 8.8cm Flak 41 auf Sonderfahrgestell (Pz.Sfl.IVc)
3cm M.K. 103 Zwilling Flakpanzer IV "Kugelblitz"
Panzerjäger I B mit StuK 40 L/48
Bison II - 15 cm s.IG 33 (Sfl.) auf Pz.Kpfw. II
Stug. III 0-Series
Tiger-Ferdinand, Porsche Version VK-4501
German VK4502 (P) Hintern
German VK4502 [P] Vorne
Krupp/Ardelt Waffentrager 105mm leFH-18
Choices, choices?
Some are clearly "paper" panzers, some have ben done recently.
I have also got on the shelf of doom, a prototype, Sturm Tiger, Tiger I and King Tiger with the Krupp/Henschel turret!!!
Back to the Pz IV as timing is ticking away fast

Re: 2021 Group Build Part 2: Prototypes
All good choices How about the Panzerjäger I? If nothing else it should be easy to transport when you have your move
As for me, I'm 95% sure I'll do the KV-220:
This was a Soviet prototype from 1940, a further development of the KV-1 with an 85mm gun. However, it was underpowered and the project went nowhere until the war with Germany broke out. During the Siege of Leningrad the tank was used with a standard KV-1 turret until it was hit and burned out, while its original turret ended up as a coastal battery. Supposedly its overworked engine made a whistling sound resembling the German Stuka sirens, which caused a bit of confusion from time to time...
Might just do the exact scene with the rubble and the wooden fence in the back

Re: 2021 Group Build Part 2: Prototypes
I am leaning very strongly towards this for the GB
German VK4502 (P) Hintern
Reason being it will be easier to pack, and can be a stripped down, no tools in olive green, red primer, being loaded with ammo by Volkssturm kids and geriatrics for a last ditch combat, with some seasoned tankers giving directions.
I'll get this one started this coming weekend, and NOT LEAVE IT UNTIL the last minute to get it finished!!
I am retired though it doesn't feel like it at the moment.
More soon?
Regards
Steve H

Good choice Steve
By the way...Hobby Boss made a mistake. The proper word is hinten. Not trying to be a grammar nazi, it's just a bit weird for a German to read that word in this context

Ahhh
I remember you once hinted at this
Hinten, Google translate...................at the back (of)
Hintern, Google translate........................backside, a$$, ar$e
I guess I'll build the "at the back of" version to save any confusion

Re: 2021 Group Build Part 2: Prototypes
Before I get started, one of my options is the Focke-Wulf Ta-183 Huckebein. It was a late war German jet concept that never made it past a wind tunnel mock-up but was heavily influential in the design on the Mig-15 and Argentinian IAe-33 Pulqui. Does this satisfy the brief? Happy if it doesn’t but just can’t find a tank prototype that excites me…

Sounds good for me Preferrably it should kinda look like a prototype in the end, but the main thing is having fun

Re: 2021 Group Build Part 2: Prototypes
Just to be annoying, would this fit the brief? Like the VK4502 it was never produced but the turret was modified for the Puma.
