Re: SdKfz. 251/7 Ausf. C two times at the crossroads
Thanks Rob !
It turned out not all that bad...I'm just currently a bit... "emo" as my students would say... to put it in proper terminology: currently somewhat lacking in emotional stability .
Turns out just glueing another plate under the base with "hardcore-fixes-up-to-20tons-on-20cm²" glue and fixing it with three screw compressor clamps and some minor clamps fixed the curl and the liberal application of some acrylic scenic paste fixed most of the cracks. The ones I didn't fill will be either under the vehicles or on the wood floor and will be invisible anyway.
So I'm back on course..yay!
After "uncurling" =>
Having filled the worst of the cracks =>
Next I will probably give it a brownish base colouring in several shades and then move on from there with the "Forest in a Pot", artificial water and liberal amounts of white glue .
Best regards

Re: SdKfz. 251/7 Ausf. C two times at the crossroads
Thanks Shawn and Vincent!
I started doing the ground and immediately was exceedingly unhappy with how the "Forest in a pot" looked.
I looks a bit like the annoying stuff that railway enthusiast throw onto their little kitschy alpine "dioramas" .... sorry.... I didn't mean to badmouth railway fans, it's certainly not everyone who acts like this .
Nevertheless it all looked very ...artificial... =>
So I moped a bit around, threw a minor tantrum...because I'm currently somewhat emotional unstable , and then went ahead following Philipp's advice and used some filtered local earth to dust the whole thing, added the first layer of artificial water and did (some) work on the various things that should be damp or wet. I'm now way more happy with the look, and added the figures to test the scale effect.
It's still lacking all the autumn leaves and smaller branches that fell victim to the recent mortar fire, so still a lot to do . =>
Best regards

Thanks Vincent!
It's a bit annoying however... I'm now at layer no.5 because the artificial water looses roughly 2/3 of it's volume when drying .
Best regards

3 further layers of artificial water, half a can of clear acrylic shine and a layer of detailing oils on the trees later =>
(the white-ish stuff is yet so dry acrylic shine)
Best regards
