Looks good Philipp, the mud Camo has toned down nicely!

Thanks Adam!

If no longer has that "smeared on" appearance I was aiming for thanks to all the layers of clear paind and other stuff, but I'm still happy with how it looks. Should definitely be easier next time I try something like this.

I'm baaaaaaack!

Behold the not-fried-by-lightning herald of future communication:

Oh, and totally backwards compatible to all the early 2000's era stuff still left in the dark corner behind it

In the meantime, a more relevant update:

Jerrycans by Tamiya - both older and newer patterns (concerning the real ones as well as the 1/35 version):

A few more little bits and pieces left to add and then we're done here.

I'm not exactly fast these days, but here's a little more stuff piled on:

Not sure about the tarp (came with the kit), but there's not really any other reasonable position to put it. The steel pan also came with it, I added handles from wire. The jerrycans are the same as on the front, except for gasoline. They are tied to the antenna base with a piece of yarn. I usually try to avoid "magnetic" stowage.

Paiting tons of small personal equipment to hang outside the vehicle can get a little tedious, so I started on the base:

The rocks were made from gypsum coloured with ochre pigments, which makes it a little easier to work with than actual limestone. The inside will be filled with sand, which gives the commander of the 223 a nice vantage point to melodramatically stare into the sunset....

How did you make the rocks Philipp?

They look cast?

very realistic if they are homemade 8-)

Do share how?

Steve H

ps are you using the Tamiya figure with this one?

Thanks Steve :)

Yep, I'll be using the Tamiya figure. Just need to paint him...

The rocks were made from standard plaster with some pigments mixed in, the same I used for the camo. The mix was poured into an old plastic cup (from joghurt or something) and left to harden, afterwards I broke it into suitably sized pieces by hand and glued them onto the base. The smooth surfaces you see on some are the walls of the cup, but these will be covered with generous amounts of sand.

Very clever rock making tips Philipp, thanks. :) The scene is coming along nicely too.

The base is complete, the 223 is complete, the figure and other stuff on the 223 still not quite complete:

The dry plants are some local weed our dog brought home stuck to her legs one day. Who says pets can't contribute to your hobby
