Here we are, the new campaign is live and running

And here's my entry:



Not that much in the box, but it's a small vehicle anyway.


I'll be doing the version from the boxart:


I should warn you that I know absolutely nothing about the Dingo or any other British armoured car for that matter. Therefore this will be strictly OOTB. However I have a little scene planned with hit. Just wait and see

And there's the result of the first few hours of assembly:


I haven't decided yet but I'll most likely build the roof closed or half-closed so there won't be much left to be seen anyway. But here's my first question: What was the interior colour? Sand as on the outside? The original dark brown/green/whatever colour? White? Silver?

Any help would be most welcome

Looking at images on the net it shows a few different colours - but most of these are probably repainted so you can't guarantee accuracy....

I guess it's take your pick of any of teh colours you mentioned Though it may be easier using the external colour?

On the boxart the interior is in that weird dark brown that was used as a non-desert camo early in the war. It would seem a little impractical when buttoned up. Of course that has never hindered anyone

Sand is probably the best option. Even if it was originally different I can just claim it was repainted locally

That's a very strong start Philipp, I'm a recent convert to Miniart and have to say they are winning me over. Love it!

With the research into allied vehicles, British kit was allegedly painted silver on the insides, but in shortage of silver paint, white was used inside. This little car having a roof that opens so wide would possibly be more characteristic of an open topped vehicle, thus the SSC2, but then repainted on the exterior for North Africa??? would give some nice chipping options

That being said, I made a tiny bit of progress on the assembly:



The overall fit was surprisingly good. However, disregard the instructions completely when it comes to the suspension. The way Miniart suggests will guarantee you tons of problems. Generally speaking, fit the spring mounts first, then the upper suspension arms, then the driveshafts, then the lower suspension arms, then the springs. Don't bother to keep anything movable, it won't work anyway. To keep all four wheels level would be a huge challenge, thankfully I'm planning to do a little vignette with rough terrain for it.

The front plate and roof still come off for painting:

I drilled open the holes in the wheels as these were just shallow indentations on the kit parts. On the real thing the brake drums(?) sit underneath so you can't see through the whole wheel.

If everything goes as planned I can assemble the whole model minus the roof and front plate before I have to start painting.
