Thanks chaps

Yes I actually do need to start building , this weekend, hopefully

Anna's sister will be here, so I get to "disappear" whilst they chatter, continually, no point in trying to even watch some TV!

Woody, the research I have done, goes along the line of the base becomes an ammo carrier, once the gun has been sited :?

I guess they realised the folly of the idea as it never became a full production model..

Shawn, exactly what I was thinking too, I shall do one figure at a time, scribe, assemble, head transplant, paint. 8-)

Production line is just to sapping, and I too, have a whole string of unfinished GB projects

Whatever you build, Shawn is always worth following, just dive in, between studying, work and life, if you can!

I have a broad range of "stuff" to spark the flame of modelling again, so if one thing drags I can swap to another

The chains and a whole range of superb modelling accessories are available here

http://modellingtimbers.co.uk/1.html

Anna'a surgery date has been posponed again for the 3rd time

But we do have to temper this with the fact that, those who get to go sooner are having cancer surgery, so it is important, they get dealt with.

Now that we know what Anna has, we can adapt to minimize it reoccurring before she gets to have surgery.

Feb 12th is the new date, fingers crossed, and she is dealing with it probably better than I am

The smell of glue and feel of plastic, will hopefully distract me again!

More soon, with photos

Thanks again chaps, it is appreciated, and the whole GB momentum is sparking the "mojo" ;)

Regards

Evening

Not a big update by the current progress of the GB

Just a little something!

Image

The slots for the fenders have been filled as they will be replaced with a full fender set from Voyager.

The other Voyager set will allow all the tool clamps to be empty, no radio in the rack,, empty and open shell storage, and the real big one

all the cogs, chains and gears for lifting the turret off the base :D

There are bits missing, I shall save the magic tracks for a time when there are only DS tracks being supplied!

What I am attempting to achieve, is a stripped down carcass, "discovered" by a forward US unit ;)

The figure is getting there, head transplant done.

I have ordered another building as the 1st one doesn't have enough space behind it :?

Image

I have a plan for something different, but, that will hopefully come together later ;)

I have hit something of a research barrier too!

I want to remove the gun 8-)

I can not find anything on the interweb to help identify if the following would be correct :?

Remove the GREEN keep the PINK???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Image

If anyone can point me in the right direction? Please

Thanks for popping by

More later

If I'm not mistaken you've got it right, but the part immediately ahead of the breech block where the recoil cylinders attach would be part of the barrel too and therefore needs to go. I'm fairly certain they would have removed the gun sight too before starting on the barrel, these things were horribly fragile.

A stripped down carcas is my cup of tea Steve, so I'll be following this one very closely. :D Those Miniart factory building are very nice too. So many possibilities.

Cheers,
Vincent

Thanks Philipp

Sounds like a plan, leave a little bit of the recoil cylinders but take the bits attached to the barrel ;)

Yes, Vincent, I will be reviewing your rusted wrecks with a chipped , peeling paint, sort of look and rust bleeding out of the removed portions ;)

The corner factory unit has a much bigger back office spce which will be just right for what I am trying to do ;)

A little surprise, if it works out, loads of extra bits ordered for it too, but I will keep it under wraps until I am sure it will work :D

Any progress is good at the moment, hate the long winter nights

More this weekend ;)

Hi Steve,

The suspense will kill us, looking forward to the surprise :D

The Miniart building looks good for a lot of uses :geek:

Thanks for the link to Modelling Timbers. There is some good generic items in there that i can use for a future dock diorama :)

I saw your comment about the hull of the Grasshopper being used as an ammo carrier once the gun was deployed. Makes some sort of sense i guess. Although the complicated means of loading the gun back on the hull doesn't make for a quick getaway.

You are welcome Woody ;)

The new bigger MiniArt building has arrived :D

Image

Time to try and build one of these monsters!

The web site had a string of videos to help.

Shawn has mentioned adding a piece of waste plastic behind the joins to beef up the strength.

I have also seen filling the empty space in the walls with poly filler too.

We will see!

It is icy and frosty here and we are off to see Rogue One tonight :D

I have a small list of "Honey do" jobs as the Americans would say

And some build time, an update tomorrow evening, no matter what progress is made

More soon :?:

Hi Steve,

Rogue One. You will not be disappointed! We went to see it at the cinemas last weekend. Not giving anything away, but the last half hour or so is just awesome. What a great lead in to the original trilogy!

Mavis had never watched a Star Wars movie before that, now she is hooked. Her words after Rogue One were, 'that was so exciting!'

Mate, how is Anna?
