I am a coastal baby too, Woody 8-)

One day I hope to retire back to the coast too ;)

Anna isn't so cool about it, as a city girl, but we will see

Hopefully she will be so confused with early onset dementia and senility, she wont know where she is  8-)

I have another 10 years before the state will give me a pension, luckily enough only 3 years before my private pension funds become accessible 8-)

I might actually finish a GB then, but still waiting for Anna to loose her marbles :?

Still too many "Honey do lists" for every day off

Hope your rest-bit refreshes your Mojo 8-)

Regards

Glad to see you back again Woody, I cant say anything. My mojo has gone down the toilet again. I just don't know what to do? I only have two figures in my current build and I have not been motivated to do much on it.

Anyways, the driver certainly does what it is needed to do. Nice work.

Thanks Steve and Shawn :)

I have been moving forward on this. I got one side of the Fruils done at the model group i attend. It's a good way of doing Fruils. Having other modelers jabbering away makes a good distraction :P

Also got paint on the lower hull and wheels. I don't have any photos as our computer is down. I'm just rambling away on my phone

A neat build and diorama that is a nice bit of inspiration...

Hi Adam,

I am going more for (in my head) what is on the box top. But the jungle vegetation in that diorama is a good inspiration.

Hi chaps,

Ok, evidence time. We have got the old laptop up and running for now :P

Colours are very stark right now and are brush painted on. Not paying too much attention here as this will be pretty much dirt and mud.

My foray into looking for some add on stores and equipment has seen the aquisition of Tamiyas new Japanese officer set. I can use a couple of the ammunition boxes and the tank officer figure with the binoculars...

Image

Looking at the boxes Tamiya provide are pretty damn average. I am sorry Tamiya, but you can do way better than this!! So, it was out with the knife blades to scribe the individual boards that make the boxes and underscored the bracing pieces (the box art is a great guide here), then the blade to scribe some deeper 'wood grain' and then i finished by scraping my diamond file in the direction the wood grain would go.

So this is what i came up with. Out of the box Tamiya on the left and my upgraded effort on the right...

Two boxes finished, still with rough finish and plastic scrapings...

Final step, they are scrubbed down with an old tooth brush and they are ready for paint...
