Meng Pickup with Rockets

Post by Mark Aldrich »

Going to use the Meng Puckup with ZPU-1 as the base and put the Meng four barrel rocket launcher (SPS-040) in the bed.

Will follow with interest Mark, I picked up the Meng Toyota Land Cruiser with the ZPU-23-2 in the tray. Planning to build it up with aftermarket resin wheels and a Voyager PE set. Your build experience with this will be valuable, they were both early Meng kits! :D

Adam,
I did not research it enough and the instructions tell you to remove the wheels and arms. However, I have seen pictures of vehicles with the arms and wheels on as well as just the arms.

Hoping with build night tonight, I'll actually have some progress done. No such luck. What I thought was a really nice set is fraught with issues. To start, The top launcher is short cast (meaning I will need to make the securing straps). All four of the end caps have pin holes in them. I believe there is warpage on both launchers (I might be able to force clamp them).

Working on this at build night (last night) I switched to the HIND rocket mounted version is much nicer (and easier). The pickup bed is terribly warped and will take some work to straighten out. If that can be accomplished, I need to decide on a paint scheme so I can fire the interior and progress some. Hope to have some snaps this weekend.
09 April - I need to take some shots of the Pickup. Got about everything body wise ready for paint. The Def wheels make it look more utilitarian than sporty and while white would probably be a less costly color I decided on Medium blue with camel interior so I can paint this weekend and progress on the build.

Thanks! Hoping to shoot the gloss coat this evening and maybe start filling the interior. I really do not enjoy folding 1/35 paper products but they so add to the finished model.
