Hey Steve,

I'm following a painting tutorial on Warhammer TV. The blue and silver are just the base coats, there is a lot of detail painting to do yet and most of it is done in several layers with shades. The gold of the Aquila of the chest will be three different gold shades and a filter.

Then I will need to weather the armour and apply some ground work to the base. Should be able to do all the detail painting while I am away from home, but the weathering and ground work will need to wait.

Yeh, I’m a bit addicted now. Just bought an “Adeptus Titanicus Warlord” He’s much larger than the Dreadnought class but slightly shorter than the Imperial Knights. Yep, I’ve been doing my research on Warhammer!

The kits are not cheap compared to 1/35 armour, but are a nice change of pace. Also, with Games Workshop/ Citadel stuff designed for brush painting I don’t need all the acres of crap I normally have on hand to build an armoured vehicle

I’m also learning some new techniques and skills which I can use for figure painting.

I know what you mean, I painted a space marine, a few years ago, and enjoyed it so much, it was a struggle not to buy more.

Two days of intermittent painting as I stayed inside to avoid first the rain, then the smoke. 2000km from Australia but we had an early twilight last night as well as the whole word turning sepia due to the smoke coming across the Tasman.











I am particularly pleased with the two lenses next to the sarcophagus. I've never used paint effects to simulate the curve and shine of the lens of optics before but it looks like its how its done in the Warhammer modellers universe!

The banner underneath the Aquila was blank so I've attempted to hand paint a name. Not all that happy, but its the best I think I can do

Lots still to do, chipping will be as for an AFV, as will be the addition of grime. Here I will switch back to my enamels and oils, I don't feel you have the same control with acrylics.

I was not happy with the way that table top gamers weather their models in tutorials online. So, I went back to what i know from armour models and did some dot filters and a panel line wash.







I have also started the basing of the model with AK "muddy terrain" a bit of banged up PE PSP and barbed wire coils, plus a few rocks from the garden. Pics show the ground work wet, dried it has taken on a matt finish. I plan to add a few water effects with AKs "Muddy Puddles" and will then blend the dreadnought into the ground work with pigments.

A bit more work to go on the model as well, needs to be grimed up a bit

What do the gamer's do that wasn't up your street?

I guess with small figures they push the contrast to the limit?

Could you scale a photo with a 1:35 figure?

Looks like you are fast approaching the finish line with this one
