Tamiya's Universal Carrier.

Post by John Everett »

This U.C. was started over a year ago back on the MA site. The few build pictures were lost when the site failed. (I can assure you, they weren't very interesting. )

I was able to find this old picture of the vehicle from the early stages of the "House On The Hill" diorama.
Image

Primed in Krylon grey and painted in Vellejo.

Lots of custom sculpted items in and on the carrier.

Color modulation to go. Given the dark green, I may play around with some Yellow Ochre artist oil for the light spots, but plan to spray darker acrylic for the shadows.

I've got the Riich kit in the pile and it looks beautiful. But this is Tamiya's 1979 release. It was a fast build and this diorama is going to enough time as it is.

Stowage! (Accept the German guy. His uniform was the same color as some stowage; so I sprayed him as well.)

Nice :)

Though you may wish to change the fire extinguisher colour. Usually brass for that type on British WW2 vehicle.

Too late now, unfortunately. I would do a lot of damage trying yo change it.

Tarp it is then! :D

An utterly glorious day in Colorado!

I sat out on the front porch and did some weathering along with a few figures to populate the scene.
(Many thanks to Gary for his "dirty pictures" taken after the Universal Carrier had been driven around in the mud for a few minutes. They were hugely helpful in placing pigments.)

But we also took a few hours for a little bicycle trip around the neighborhood.
These are two albino deer which were born a year apart from the same mother. The deer around here are remarkably tolerant of human proximity.

The ingredients to genuine happiness, wellbeing and long life are the following: GI Joe, Legos, Hotwheels, wet sand and a thick growth of algae.

Edit:
A touch up with yellow ocher oil paint and it's ready for Dullcoat. Still needs antennae, addition alteration in the track mud and we'll be done! Gotta get a figure, though. :? :?:

Nice progress John! :D
Especially the huge amount of tarps an the other little details really make this come alive :D .

Also good to hear that some people have nice weather, here it has been raining for the last couple of days i.e. spring has been changed to autumn²

Best regards
